Custom Printed Shirts with Team Rosters
Mar/120
A popular custom screen print shirt idea for teams is a shirt with the team roster listed. These shirts are easy to do and since every player as well as their family is sure to purchase, these will be a profitable order. The shirt can be printed with each player’s name, number and even position if desired.

All-Star teams are perfect for roster shirts to list numbers, player names and positions. Layout QTY-55 shown in photo.
Here is how to create a custom roster shirt:
1. Choose a layout –we have many different roster layout choices
2. Give us the team and player information:
Player names and information can be entered online or uploaded in a .txt file in a single column online.
3. Order the quantity, color and size you need. Unless it is a t-ball team, a standard size print of approximately
11” x 11” will be perfect
4. Submit your order.
Tip: Order by 11 am EST and if it is a one color print, it ships the same day!
How to Handle Multiple Shirt Sizes
Mar/120
Help! I have a customer that wants me to do an order that has mostly youth sizes but they also have some Adult XL. Do I need two orders?
This is a frequently asked question—how do you handle an order that has a wide range of shirt sizes? To keep the cost to a minimum, the best way to order is to use the same print size for all sizes. The secret to success is to make the image as big as you can on your smallest shirt size. It may look a little large on that very small shirt, but it will look perfect on the majority of the shirts and still look good on the biggest shirt. This will help keep your customer in budget, win you a customer because you were able to give them the very best price and offer service with a helpful tip.
This happens frequently in leagues. A typical t-ball order will be for 2 Youth Small, 10 Youth Medium, 2 Youth Large and 2 Adult X-Larges for the coaches. To get the best price, you want to order one size print for an order of 16. Our standard adult size, 11” wide, would fit on youth small but cover most of the front. In this case, since the majority of sizes needed are youth, I would recommend going just a little smaller. A 10” size would be perfect- it is perfect for the youth size shirts and just a little smaller than a standard adult size for the adult shirts, and you and your customer get the price advantage of just one order.
If you are not sure, our Dealer Service team can help you decide on the best size print to choose. So they can best help you, just know the print area available on your smallest shirt and the range of sizes in your order.
Winning Future Orders by Packaging Your League Order
Mar/120
You’ve won the league bid but had to accept a lower profit margin than you normally make. Leagues are typically a lot of work with low profits, but you can win future orders with higher profit margins with creative packaging.
The key to success is to package each player’s uniform. Not only does this give you the chance to impress the league director, typically a volunteer, who will be sure to come back to you next year, but you can also use this opportunity as free advertising (with just a little extra sweat investment).
On the insert that identifies the player whose uniform is enclosed, include a flyer advertising what you can do for upcoming summer events. Include family reunions, corporate outings, fundraising walks and festivals. Show some examples of what you have done in the past or use our flyer documents and Easy View™ to personalize even further. When the player’s parent needs an order, they will remember you as the place to go.
For the outside of each package, order stickers to identify your company as the company that delivered to the order. To further personalize, order them for the league order specifically, such as Good Luck Mayfair Youth League from Pro Sport Performance. Stickers are inexpensive and can be ordered at the same time as your team logos.
Screen Printed Transfer Numbers are Fast and Easy
Feb/122
One of our customers that owns screen printing equipment called last week to tell us he didn’t know how his shop survived when they were printing their own numbers. He described his old process as messy, time consuming and a cause of frequent errors resulting in ruined apparel. He went on to say how anyone in his shop can press the numbers he now buys, and that his customer’s still receive the quality screen printed plastisol numbers that they expect.
The Easy Prints® numbers apply in just 4 seconds with just a heat press. Watch our video to see how easy and fast it is to apply these numbers. In the two minutes you spend watching the video you could have numbered 6 jerseys!
The numbers come on paper that makes alignment easy. It is as simple as touching the edges of the paper! If you are doing a 2 color number, both colors are on the same paper so you don’t have to worry about registration. Just position the paper and press. Names can also be ordered and applied at the same time, again touching the paper for perfect alignment.
The numbers are offered in 8 different styles and 50 color combinations. They are sold in packs of 5, so a pack of the number 1, would have 5 1s. In addition, if doing larger volumes or you wish to stock styles in your store, the numbers can be ordered in money saving Express Packs that will number three baseball teams, or Kits that can number an entire league and come in a storage box with trays. If we do not have the colors or style you are looking for, custom printed numbers are available too.
Ordering Sponsor Names for Baseball Leagues
Feb/120
Your local baseball league just called and asked you to quote their league order. You are excited for the opportunity and really want to win the bid, but where do you start? It seems easy; they just want t-shirts with a sponsor name on the front and a number on the back.
So where do you start?
1. Find out if they would like a specific height for the text needed.
2. Find out how many teams and what color ink is needed for each team.
3. Find out how many players on each team.
Now you organize!
First, divide the teams by ink color. Let’s say that 8 teams get white ink and 8 teams get black ink. Your customer told you they want the sponsor names 1.5” tall. We have created sponsor layouts that make filling these orders easy and very cost effective. Since they have chosen 1.5” tall as the letter height, you will want to use QSP-2 for ordering. You can see that there are 8 lines that fit on one order. So, start filling the slots with your sponsor names needing white ink.
Line 1 MARY’S ICE CREAM
Line 2 JONES LEGAL SERVICE
Line 3 MARIO’S PIZZA
Line 4 JOHNSON DELI
Line 5 ABC SPORTING GOODS
Line 6 MEDIC DRUG STORE
Line 7 HENRY’S BURGERS
Line 8 SUE’S CUPCAKES
How many should you order?
Three of the teams have 12 players and the other five have 15, so you will be ordering 15 sheets of the order you created above. So, your order would be for 15 sheets @ $3.58/sheet=$53.70 to put sponsor names on 8 teams, 111 players. That is just .48 per player! And your order ships the same day when ordered by 11 am EST so not only can you give your league a great price but also great service.
Number Ordering
The number order is just as easy. Use our online number calculator. Enter 3 teams with number 1-12 and 5 teams 1-15. Using a 6” number, the cost is just .25 per digit so with a sponsor on the front and a number on the back, your printing cost is just 73 cents!
The Ins and Outs of League Business
Nov/110
Yesterday with Doug Wilcoxson of Bomark, we hosted an all day seminar on the ins and outs of league business here at Transfer Express.
Doug discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the league business. The advantages are a reputation in the community, many uniforms to decorate and the stability of the league business even during down times. The disadvantage is a lot of business all with the same delivery demands, add-ons, and low margins.
He reviewed ideas for overcoming these disadvantages such as getting them to buy an extra uniform right from the start, the use of transfers so that you do have the one extra to apply in seconds and using the delivery as an opportunity to advertise for more profitable business.
He also emphasized the importance of getting 50% down when ordered, and the rest on delivery because leagues have all of their money paid when sign up ends before the season starts, and as the season progresses payment for grass cutting, lights, umpires, etc may drain an ill planned budget.

Doug from Bomark explains the ins and outs of league business at an all day Open House Seminar hosted by Transfer Express.
Doug also brought samples of the uniforms distributing by Bomark. He will be presenting this same seminar at upcoming ISS shows, so if you are at a show it is a great investment of time in your business.

How to Order Custom Transfers with Class Lists or Team Rosters
Jun/110
A customer from Michigan called last week wanting All Star shirts for several local leagues she had supplied uniforms. It is All Star season and this type of shirt is a best seller for leagues looking to recognize their all stars. Ordering a custom transfer with a list of names is easy!
If you are ordering a team roster we have many custom transfer layouts set up for easy online ordering. Just enter the team name or other personalization and type in the names where specified–Name 1 here, Name 2 Here, etc. Then just enter the quantity, color and size and submit.
If you are using a layout with a longer list or if your customer has sent you an electronic list of names there is no need to retype these. We have an area on our site to send name lists at www.transferexpress.com just click “Send us your artwork” The list of names should be in a single column, entered as you want them to be printed, for example Jimmy Smith, and saved in a .txt file. If you want to use this in an Easy Prints® layout, this can be noted in notes or you can submit all but the names through the online ordering just noted the names have been sent and include the reference number you received as confirmation.
Whether ordering online or sending us a name list to use in an Easy Prints layout, you get low Easy Prints pricing and same day shipping for 1 color orders placed before 11 am eastern. Good luck to all of your All Stars.
How To Outfit An All Star Uniform
Jun/112
Baseball All Star teams are forming and these teams will need uniforms. Start with the front of the uniform and dress them like pros! An entire layout category is dedicated to these players in our Easy Prints® collection. Many of these teams will want two or more colors on the print and our online design tool, Easy View™ can show your customers what the print will look like in two colors on their shirt. All Star teams frequently also add a number to the front of the uniform under the logo, especially script with tails layouts. If doing teen uniforms, our 4” numbers are perfect. For smaller youth, use 2.5” or 3” numbers ordered through our Express Names program. If using 2.5” numbers you can fit 10 digits in one strip, and for 3” numbers you can fit 8.
The All Stars will want to be recognized so be sure so to be sure to add an Express Name above the number on the back. The 2.5” size is best for teen uniforms and the 2” size is perfect for younger teams. The number under the name can be ordered in two colors to match the uniform front, and with Easy Prints® numbers it is one application in just 4 seconds. For teen uniforms, an 8” number can be used and for smaller sizes use a 6” number.
If your team has a sponsor this can be added to the sleeve. Add this as well as a cap size print for your team caps to the front logo and create a gang sheet – all three logos are printed on one sheet for a great cost savings.
Add an American flag to the other sleeve and your All Star is ready to play!
