Here are five more of the new Great Dane Design layouts available for your customer’s ordering. We now have revealed 10 of these trendy new designs. Voting begins January 18^th for your favorite. Three voters will be chosen to win a $50 coupon for your own custom order!

This week we show you layouts from the swimming, wrestling, basketball, volleyball and cheerleading sections. All sections are customizable. By just changing the text and clip art the swimming layout is transformed to a race print, the wrestling transforms to a ballerina print, the basketball to a baseball print, the volleyball to a cheerleading and the cheerleading to a landscaping. You can see with just a little creativity you can meet any customer’s needs.

First Sneak Peek of Great Dane Designs To Create Your Custom Transfers

Here are the first five designs of the new Easy Prints® customizable layout collection from Great Dane Graphics. These are now orderable and can be customized for your needs using Easy View™, our free design tool for all Transfer Express dealers.

The first five designs include a layout from our recreation, mascot, religion, all star and basketball sections. But the section is just a starting point and the layout can be customized to fit your specific needs. If you love the look of the basketball layout but want it for your baseball team—just change the basketball player to a baseball player and the text to fit your needs.

Get creative with colors too! You can show your customer the same design in 1 color or 2 colors but more can be added – just put what other colors are needed and the color placement in notes and our design team will make it happen.

These five designs will be five of the choices for the ‘vote for your favorite design’ on January 18^th. Three lucky voters will win $50 towards their own order.

Custom Transfers with Bling – Metallic, Glitter or Foil?

Is your customer looking to brighten the look of their printed apparel? If so, there are three different custom transfer options available.

The most durable and least expensive is our Goof Proof® in metallic silver ink. Plastisol, screen printed metallic ink transfers do have flecks of metal for some sparkle, but it is the most subtle “bling” of the three. It is the best choice for athletic or school items that need to be durable for constant wear.

The second option is glitter. This has a lot of shine and is probably preferred by females. It is still very durable since it is a screen printed ink. Cheer and dance teams seem to love the glitter as it meets both needs – it adds sparkle and is still durable.

The third option is foil. This is actually a 2 step process as you need both a transfer and the foil product to put over it. This is the look desirable for fashion items and is great because you can choose to foil just a portion of the print giving a 2 texture look at just a 1 color price. However, this is the least durable of the three but by using it with the metallic silver ink, in time if the foil does flake off, you still have a very durable metallic silver print on the shirt.

Tips for Screen Printing Custom Artwork: Tip 5 – Color Placement

When creating custom artwork for screen printed transfers, color placement is important. The screen printing process uses spot colors. You can use spot colors when creating art, but it is not required. However, you should use consistent colors in your file.

Here are some guidelines for color placement in your custom art:

It doesn’t matter if you use a spot color, a CMYK value, or an RGB value as long as it is the same throughout. So if you use CMYK values, use CMYK throughout your whole file.
Use the same color to represent each color in your design. For example, if you have a blue area, use the same blue for all those blue areas.
If it helps to add a background color to match the apparel color, go ahead and try that. This helps if you are using a white ink as one of your colors and want to distinguish the ink from the background or show-thru areas.

Colors appear differently on different computer monitors. If you would like a more accurate idea of how your colors will look when printed, use one of our Color Selectors that are part of our marketing kit or available separately.

A good spot color palette to use in Adobe Illustrator® and CorelDraw® is the “Pantone® solid coated” palette that comes with the software.

A customer orders a custom printed shirt but they want the ink color to match an outfit they have—so what do you do?
Answer: No Problem! Our screen printed transfers ink colors can be mixed to match any color you desire.

We stock 63 ink colors (plastisol). But if you don’t see what you need, we can always do a color match to the desired color for a small color match fee. You can either provide us a Pantone® color (Pantone® is a standardized system for colors, often called PMS or Pantone Matching System) or send us an item that you want matched.

Use Transfer Express' Easy Prints® Color Selector to choose ink colors for screen printed transfers.

If you want to see what colors we stock, we offer an approximated online color chart (there is some variance due to the variance in colors on computer monitors), a list of the Pantone corresponding numbers that can be used if you own a Pantone chart, or a color selector specific to Transfer Express can be ordered.

How To Outfit An All Star Uniform

Baseball All Star teams are forming and these teams will need uniforms. Start with the front of the uniform and dress them like pros! An entire layout category is dedicated to these players in our Easy Prints® collection. Many of these teams will want two or more colors on the print and our online design tool, Easy View™ can show your customers what the print will look like in two colors on their shirt. All Star teams frequently also add a number to the front of the uniform under the logo, especially script with tails layouts. If doing teen uniforms, our 4” numbers are perfect. For smaller youth, use 2.5” or 3” numbers ordered through our Express Names program. If using 2.5” numbers you can fit 10 digits in one strip, and for 3” numbers you can fit 8.

The All Stars will want to be recognized so be sure so to be sure to add an Express Name above the number on the back. The 2.5” size is best for teen uniforms and the 2” size is perfect for younger teams. The number under the name can be ordered in two colors to match the uniform front, and with Easy Prints® numbers it is one application in just 4 seconds. For teen uniforms, an 8” number can be used and for smaller sizes use a 6” number.

If your team has a sponsor this can be added to the sleeve. Add this as well as a cap size print for your team caps to the front logo and create a gang sheet – all three logos are printed on one sheet for a great cost savings.

Add an American flag to the other sleeve and your All Star is ready to play!

How to Prep Your Own Artwork for CAD-PRINTZ Printing

RGB Vs. CMYK Color Mode:
We make it easy for our customers by providing all the artwork you could ever imagine with Easy Prints® layouts and clipart, which the selection continues to grow each year. However, sometimes your customers provide their own artwork or maybe you have come up with some very nice artwork yourself. In these cases, one of the most common questions that re-occur has to do with the color mode of the artwork files. The color mode of your artwork file is basically the colors that your artwork is rendered in its end use. To determine which color mode you want, you must know your end use for the artwork. There are various color modes, while RGB and CMYK are the most common.

RGB (standing for Red, Green, Blue) is a color mode used by computer monitors, televisions, and any sort of electronic screen. All of the colors you see on the screen are actually made up of various combinations of tiny red, green and blue “boxes” known as pixels. This is also the color mode used by all internet graphics. If you are making any artwork for the web or any other project that will be viewed on a monitor, you would want to use RGB as the color mode.

However, RGB is not a color mode meant for printing. CMYK (standing for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key (Black)) is the other main color mode which is meant for printing. By combining different percentages of the ink colors, cyan, magenta, yellow and black, a wide variety of other colors are created. This is the method used by your ink jet printer at home all the way to commercial printing presses. CMYK is also known as “full color”, “4-color” or “process color” printing. We use CMYK as the color mode to print all of our CAD-PRINTZ™. This includes all of the digital transfers, wall graphics, banners, stickers and window clings. If you try to print artwork that is RGB using CMYK, the colors will not be consistent and will most likely be very different from how they appear on your computer screen. Therefore, if you are sending us artwork for any CAD-PRINTZ™ product, we need the color mode in CMYK.

Changing the color mode of your artwork file depends on the computer application you are using. Please check your users guide for your particular application that you are using for details.

How to Use Easy View™ to Create Examples for Your Customers

Easy View™ is a great online design tool we created specifically for our dealers to create designs for tshirts and more. Using Easy View™, you can search through our thousands of layouts and you control the ink colors, text, fonts, and clipart for each and every layout you choose! Even better, you can save the customized layouts you create to your own computer. Print or e-mail these personalized layouts to show your customers to help close the sale. Having examples is always a great selling feature to help your customers visualize their designs rather than leaving it up to them to try to picture it in their minds. Not only does it help speed up the sales process with your customers, it is quick and easy to learn and use!

HOW TO DO IT:
For example, your customer, the city of Mentor, is having their annual Memorial Day Parade. Using Easy View™, we will show you how you can sell them the designs for t-shirts and more for the parade, doing it all online!

First, log into our web site using your Dealer ID and Password. After logging in, you have full access to Easy View™. By clicking on the “Idea Book Layouts” tab at the top, you can search our thousands of layouts.

At this point, you have chosen several layouts that fit the parade, and now you are ready to customize the layouts.

When we click on the thumbnail version of layout QHL-52, it automatically goes to Easy View™. We have determined that the layout is sufficient for our needs and are only going to change the Line 3 text from COMPTON to MENTOR. We are choosing to keep the same typestyle and clipart.

For our ink colors, we will show them a 2 color ink design using white as the primary ink color and royal as the secondary. These will be going on red shirts. Then, we simply click the Easy View button and our customized layout emerges in the preview window.

Now we will save this image so we can e-mail it to our customer. For PC users, we will right-click on our customized layout and select Save Picture As (MAC users will Control + click). Save the image with a name and location on your computer of your choice.

Next, open your e-mail and click to open a new message. You may type your message before or after you attach the design for the parade. When you are ready to attach, most e-mail applications show a paperclip icon for attaching documents while also displaying some sort of text title. When you have found the attachment button, click to bring up the attachment dialog box. Browse your files until you find the saved parade design image.

You may attach as many images to your message as your e-mail provider will allow space for, some more and some less.
Tip: To create records of what you sent to the customer, click the “Printable” page for each design and print a copy for your records. You can also add these designs to your cart and “Save for later” when your customer decides on the design they want for their tshirts or other apparel.

It is that easy! You are now ready to send preview images to your customers with customized designs for their needs and events! Happy Easy View™-ing!
