Top Design of 2012 Announced And Three Lucky Customers win $50 Off Their Order
Jan/120
Thank you to everyone who voted on our new trendy Easy Prints®, customizable layouts by our own Great Dane Graphics. Many voted, but three rose to the top as the top three layouts. They are Easy Prints layout QLW-60, QBK-180 and QSW-47. All three of these had the fashion look like you find at Abercrombie or Hollister. They are easy to make your own by just changing the text, and choosing a clip art, colors and size. If you are a current dealer, you can preview a proof on your free Easy View™, or if you are new to Transfer Express, your order can be placed by phone.
Our three lucky voters were also chosen and they are Arthur from Initial Reaction, Karla from Personal Pizazz and Leyland from String it Up. Each won $50 towards their next order! Congratulations!

Why do our top customers buy from us?
Dec/110
Recently I was listening to a webinar by Jeff Gitomer who has written many great publications about marketing and has a weekly email newsletter, Sales Caffeine. He challenged each person to ask your best customers, why do you buy from us? As he said, if your top customers buy from you for these reasons, others will want to for the same reasons. Your customers have written your marketing materials. This is a great exercise for your own store as well.
5 reasons our top customers buy custom transfers from us:
Speed – all commented on how fast our service is, and not only how quickly we get it out the door but also, especially for those on the west coast, how fast it arrives with Speedy Air service, 2 day air for the price of ground.
Reliability – as often as speed, customers commented that not only is the order fast, but it ALWAYS ships on the day we tell them it will.
Education – many of our customers complimented the many education resources we offer, all at no charge, videos, blog tips, webinars and innovative website.
Choices – we are known for our Easy Prints®, and they are ever growing with the largest collection of professional created art that can be customized.
Ease of Business – every company has a system, but customers complimented our dealer service team, the speed we reply to emails and get back to them with quotes sent via upload.
Shooting for Basketball Printing Profits
Dec/110
The NBA Strike has been settled, college and high school basketball has begun and local recreational teams are getting started as well. Now is the time to help these teams with uniforms and apparel.
We can help you uniform the team to start. Reversible jerseys are especially easy with custom transfers. See our new video! Most basketball uniforms only use the digits 0-5 when numbering keeping your costs low—a pack of each digit will number an entire team! Don’t forget to offer printed bags, all basketball players carry their shoes to the court and our CAD-PRINTZ™ Opaque work great on the popular nylon cinch bags.
Even greater profits are available from spirit wear. We have 120 layouts ready to customize for your team’s fans. Use Easy View™ to make the team up a flyer to pass out to family members.
Choosing Your Custom Transfer Product-Your Apparel Will Make Your Choice
Nov/110
When choosing what custom transfer to use, one of the most important factors is what apparel type your customer is requesting. If your customer wants to order a nylon jacket, your product choice is limited to the only product that works on nylon—CAD-PRINTZ™ Opaque. If your customer wants a compression fit polyester material, your product choices are CAD-PRINTZ Opaque and Elasti Prints®.
If your customer wants a custom printed t-shirt, or anything cotton, polyester or cotton/poly blends your choices are unlimited. You will then need to consider if it is full color (digital product line) or spot color (screen printed transfer line). Another factor to consider is quantity. You can order as few as 1 of the digital transfers, but there is a 5 piece minimum when ordering the screen printed transfers using our layouts, or 10 if providing art.
Our customer service team will help you get the best product at the best price for your job.
Embroiderer Offers Tips for Success When Selling At On-Site Events
Oct/110
Marjorie Corrow has found that a great way to supplement her custom embroidery business is by traveling to events where she sets up a table or tent and sells a variety of decorated sportswear to the attendees.
Although she is primarily an embroiderer, she has found that custom transfers allow her to offer greater variety and she loves the ability to press designs on demand, which means she is not stuck with a lot of printed inventory at the end of the day.
Her business, Life’s A Stitch Embroidery LLC, Niskayuna, N.Y., returns to many of the same events year after year and she reports, she has customers who can’t wait to see what she will have new each year.

According to Majorie Corrow, president, Life’s A Stitch Embroidery, Niskayuna, N.Y, exhibiting at a conference generates sales not only during the event, but afterwards as well as sometimes she will run out of a size and color, and the customer will order it and have it shipped.
But while the money can be good, there are things to know ahead of time before deciding if this might be a good proposition for your decorated apparel business.
One of the biggest rules is if you are coming back to an event you have done before, while you do want to bring any designs you had leftover from last year, but you do not want to offer them printed exactly the same way on the same style of apparel.
Corrow feels that her efforts at creativity are a big key to her success. “I typically do one or two samples to put on display. I always try to do one that is really cool and not your typical center chest imprint. The goal is to do something attractive and different and give people ideas,” she says.

Two of Corrow’s most popular items at conferences are hoodies and flannel pants. She uses transfers on the pants as it’s much faster, easier, and cheaper than using a big embroidery design or appliqué.
Because she brings a heat press and designs with her, she also can offer some customization to her clientele. “They can tell me what they want, and I do it right in front of them. I will cut up little bits of the logos and put parts of the logo in one place and another. I’m not afraid to experiment. I’m very low key and happy to do what they want.”
The decorator also makes sure she offers at least one exclusive design each year.
“With permission, I take the conference logo and get creative with it, and I put that on a signature piece. So every year at the conference is a new signature piece from me,” she says.
Ideally, the embroiderer wants to have some extra designs on hand for the inevitable follow-up orders. “Post-event orders happen frequently, and I encourage it,” she says. “Customers will want a sweat shirt in a color or style that I don’t have.”
Ganging designs on a page when ordering transfers also helps keep costs down.
“I try very hard not to overbuy transfers,” she says, “and I may pay a little more as a result. But I’ve become pretty sharp about how to place them on the page to get the most bang for the buck.”
And in some cases, running low on a design can actually be a plus. “Sometimes it creates a perception of ‘hurry up they are running out’ and that enhances sales,” she notes.
Of course, it’s not possible to perfectly guess how much you will need for any given event, and having some leftovers is a cost of doing business. “If I have anything left, I mark it down, bring it the next year, donate it, or give it away. Regardless, I get my money out of every conference.”
Expect to pay a fee for the opportunity to exhibit at a conference, says Corrow, and she also offers a cut of the sales on items with the conference logo or some other arrangement that helps the organization make money. “I do not make megabucks at these, but it is my way of helping non-profit groups in other ways besides a cash donation,” she notes.
You also will need permission to use the conference name and logo on merchandise and if she is going to offer cut up designs, she makes sure she has permission from the conference in advance to do that.

Creating Custom Halloween Transfers
Oct/110
In a previous blog we introduced our new Extreme Halloween stock prints and showed you how to customize with name drops. There were five different design choices, all in full color, but sometimes your customer wants something that is all their own, and Easy View™ can help you create a print to meet their needs.

By using the Halloween clip art and your own text, you can customize any of the Easy Prints® layouts.
Don’t limit yourself to just the Holiday section-any of the thousands of professionally created layouts can be customized for Halloween with the use of clip art and your choice of text. In the examples, we used layouts from the Alternative Fashion, Anywear, Basketball and Holiday sections, just using holiday clip art and text to fit the event. Be creative with your text using fun phrases your customer might like.
Is your customer looking for a print for a children’s Halloween party? Order a one color print, press on a white shirt and provide fabric markers to use as the party craft. One customer told me they just provided washable markers and the kids were thrilled that when washed the coloring was removed and they could start all over again!
How to Order Custom Transfers with Class Lists or Team Rosters
Jun/110
A customer from Michigan called last week wanting All Star shirts for several local leagues she had supplied uniforms. It is All Star season and this type of shirt is a best seller for leagues looking to recognize their all stars. Ordering a custom transfer with a list of names is easy!
If you are ordering a team roster we have many custom transfer layouts set up for easy online ordering. Just enter the team name or other personalization and type in the names where specified–Name 1 here, Name 2 Here, etc. Then just enter the quantity, color and size and submit.
If you are using a layout with a longer list or if your customer has sent you an electronic list of names there is no need to retype these. We have an area on our site to send name lists at www.transferexpress.com just click “Send us your artwork” The list of names should be in a single column, entered as you want them to be printed, for example Jimmy Smith, and saved in a .txt file. If you want to use this in an Easy Prints® layout, this can be noted in notes or you can submit all but the names through the online ordering just noted the names have been sent and include the reference number you received as confirmation.
Whether ordering online or sending us a name list to use in an Easy Prints layout, you get low Easy Prints pricing and same day shipping for 1 color orders placed before 11 am eastern. Good luck to all of your All Stars.
