Heat Transfers – Changing Perceptions

When marketing or promoting your product your customer may have a different idea of what that product is just by what it is called. When some people hear “heat transfers” or “heat press” they immediately think of a past experience and it may not always be positive. They may be referring to a time when heat transfers were heavy and cracked after washing. Today’s heat transfers are much more durable, offer great quality and a soft hand.

The best way to beat the negative connotation of the terms used is to change them. Instead of telling customers you use “heat transfers” simply call yourself a “custom printer”. Using this term covers a wide range printing solutions. Or invent your own name to refer to a product. Use a term that identifies the product in a creative way.
You can also just call certain products personalization, custom imprints, team gear, etc. Describe your products a solution to your customers needs.
If your customer has their own ideas of how they want their garment printed such as screen printing, well you’re in luck because screen printed plastisol transfers are just that, screen printed. Not only do you not have to use the term “transfer” you are not giving your customer a false term for your solutions. By using plastisol transfers you are in fact screen printing without the equipment and learning curve. At Stahls’ Transfer Express we screen print the design onto the release paper, just as a screen printer would screen print the design to a shirt. It is just applied to a different medium. It is the same ink, the same quality, the same durability, the same process all together. If it is in fact the same and gives the same quality you can call it “screen printed” or use a phrase such as “the advanced way to screen print”.
It is important to use terms that promote a positive image for your product. Always use the positive features and benefits approach for selling your products. Always have samples on hand so your customer can touch and feel the product. This way you are selling the solution to their needs and the customer leaves happy with their quality garment and no negative perceptions.

Becoming a Stahls’ Transfer Express dealer entitles you to access features of our website not seen by other visitors of TransferExpress.com. To become a dealer all you need to do is place your first order and a Dealer ID and password will be assigned to you so you can access helpful features to help your t shirt printing business run smooth. You can find an explanation of some of the Dealer features below.
My Account
Your account is manageable on TransferExpress.com by scrolling down to “My Account” on the left column of the Transfer Express website. After you login you will be able to view any current orders placed and the status. You will be able to review details about your order after it is placed. You may reorder certain orders online after they have shipped also! Click on “Past Orders” under “My Account” to be able to view your order and reorder. There is also an image of the design so you can distinguish between screen printed transfer orders.
If you lost or misplaced any past invoices from Transfer Express you can view and print them out on your Dealers website. Click on “Past Invoices” to view any invoices after your order has shipped.
Tools
Several tools are exclusively protected for the use by Transfer Express Dealers only. These can be found under the “Tools” tab on the main homepage. Resize images to the correct proportions with the “Image Resizer”. If you would like to know how tall your 11″ wide image will be if you shrunk it down to 8″ wide use the image resizer to get the exact proportions. After resizing an image you can easily calculate the number of images you will be able to fit on our transfer sheet with the “Gang Calculator”. Type in the size of your image and the calculator will let you know exactly how many images will fit on a sheet. You can then order the number of sheets needed accordingly.
Order the exact number of Easy Prints® Numbers you need by using the “Number Calculator”. Several useful tools are given to our Dealers including calculating the quantity of number packs needed when all you have is a list of the player’s numbers with their names. There is no need to count them out by hand when all you need to do is type in their numbers and the calculator will give you the exact quantity of packs you will need. Several other ways to calculate the quantity of number packs needed is located here. Play around and use the tools that best suits your situation.

Have this website for your customer to use that contains our full line of clip arts, layouts and fonts. It does not display any information about Transfer Express or pricing! You can also link EasyPrints.com to your company website to allow customers to access the Idea Book from their home computers.
Easy View™ – Design your own t shirt art
This unique tool offered to our Dealers gives you the opportunity to customize each Easy Prints® layout in the Idea Book by changing the text, typestyles, clip art, and color. You can also print out your creation and show your customer for approval! You can then order your custom screen printed transfer order straight from the website! Use this tool also to create flyers for fundraisers. Design 2 layouts for the school and place them into a flyer layout also located on TransferExpress.com.

Marketing your t shirt printing business does not stop at passing out business cards or hanging flyers. A great way to keep your customers coming back for more is to give them a small token of appreciation as well as a creative way to use your services again. Some dealers of Stahls’ Transfer Express have added heart designs of their school mascot, customers logo, etc to their order of custom transfers that allow extra room on the sheet. These add-ons can be ganged on a sheet with your order to save on cost. Dealers heat print these transfers to a golf towel or rally towel, a hat, umbrella, mousepad, etc as an add on to their t-shirt order. This not only improves your relationship with your customer and gives them additional ideas on what you can print on but it also allows for great word-of-mouth advertising.

Many of our customers have told us about how they got started in the t shirt printing business from home. Since all you need is a heat press and custom screen printed transfers, the start up cost is minimal. One customer did wrestling tournaments each weekend. He traveled to area tournaments with a heat press and a line of custom transfers with sayings he created. “Practice Makes a Champion”, ”Wrestling is what men do during basketball season”, etc. He also had several custom transfers made with the specific tournament or event names. In addition he had Coach, Mom, Dad, Grandma and numbers for the weight classes that he made up as add ons. He ran a successful business for years doing what he enjoyed, wrestling and made some extra money doing it.
