Screen Printed Transfers Guide: When to Use Gang Sheets vs. Single Image Prints
When you’re ordering screen printed transfers, one of the first choices you’ll run into is gang sheet or single image? It sounds simple, but the option you choose can totally change how far your artwork (and budget!) goes. Both formats deliver great results; they just excel in different situations. Think of this as your cheat sheet to picking the right one so you can maximize your sheet space, speed up production, and maybe even save a little money along the way.
Gang Sheets
If you’ve ordered screen printed transfers before, you’ve likely worked with gang sheets. They’re the traditional way to order screen printed transfers: choose a sheet size, then fill it with as many designs as you can. They don’t need to match either. You can mix and match graphics, add inside tag prints, or use leftover space to test new ideas (bonus!).
At Transfer Express, multi-color screen printed transfers are only available as gang sheets. Single-image transfers are limited to single-color prints.
Gang sheets also offer more flexibility than single-image transfers. You can request rush service, color changes, and custom color matches.
You can build a gang sheet in two ways:
- Arrange your designs yourself in Easy View® Online Designer, or
- Upload your artwork through the Artwork Uploader, tell us your quantity, and we’ll build the sheet for you.
Single Image Transfers
Single image screen printed transfers are perfect when you need a quick, simple, one-color print. Instead of filling a full sheet, you upload one design within the available size limits. They’re typically more affordable per print than gang sheets and arrive pre-cut, which helps speed up production.
Like all screen printed transfers from Transfer Express, single-image prints are available in Goof Proof® (on opaque paper) or Goof Proof® Premium (on a clear carrier for easier placement).

However, single-image transfers don’t offer the same flexibility as gang sheets. For example:
- Goof Proof single-image transfers are limited to 34 stock ink colors, compared to 70 stock colors available for gang sheets.
- No custom color matches, rush options, or color changes are available.
How to Order Single Image Screen Printed Transfers
- Open Easy View® Online Designer (single-image transfers must be ordered in Easy View).
- Select your print method: Goof Proof®, Goof Proof® Premium, or Silicone.
- Choose your sheet size:
- Goof Proof® & Goof Proof® Premium: 12.75″ x 9″ or 11″ x 14″
- Silicone: 5″ x 4″, 17″ x 5″, or 11″ x 8.3″
- Upload your artwork or create a design using Easy View layouts.
- Enter your order quantity (minimum 25 for Goof Proof®/Goof Proof® Premium, 48 for Silicone).
Whether you’re team pack-the-sheet or team keep-it-simple, both gang sheets and single image transfers can be power tools in your printing lineup once you know how and when to use them. Gang sheets give you ultimate flexibility; single images keep things quick and budget-friendly. Choosing the right option helps your workflow run smoother and makes every press count.
