Creating Personalized Santa Sacks with Screen Printed Transfers

As a heat printer, we’re always finding different ideas to create a truly personalized item using our heat press. This year, instead of creating a personalized gift to wrap, we’re personalizing the actual wrapping! For large presents, or multiple presents that need wrapped together, we suggest using the growing popularity of personalized Santa Sacks as a way to wrap gifts and provide another magical Santa experience for youngsters.

Customizing Santa Sacks have several benefits including the inexpensive blank sack, the ability to easily lay it on your heat press, and that they are usually made of cotton for the perfect fabric that any heat transfer will adhere to. They can also be sold for amazing profits during Christmas time. Here’s how we made our Santa Sacks using screen printed transfers and cotton laundry bags from Transfer Express Apparel!

First, we scoured the internet for inspiration. From Pinterest to catalogs and Google image searches, we found countless ideas on how to design our Santa Sacks. There’s no right or wrong way, just get your creativity flowing and utilize the clip art and fonts in the Easy View® Online Designer to create your design or use our ready-made design you can just customize!  Just search for layout QHL-84 in Easy View.

We used the entire 11.25″ x 14″ transfer sheet because of the large size of the laundry bag. This will help cover as much area on the fabric as possible. We added a Distress pattern for added effect and used a few clip art and text that looked like it was “stamped” on the bag.

Then it was time for choosing the personalization. For this, we used Express Names™ pre spaced names in the Impress font at a 2.5″ x 11″ size. Each name comes separately cut to make heat printing even easier.

For the actual Santa’s Sack, we chose the Port Authority Laundry Bags (Product B085) in a Natural color. These bags are a large 33.5″ x 23″w which is why we created are design as large as possible on the transfer sheet. When the heat transfers and the laundry bags arrived, heat printing them was a breeze. These bags lay nicely on the heat press without any seams getting in the way. They do have a drawstring and shoulder strap, but these were able to hang under the heat press and not get in the way of the printable area.

We folded the sack in half to help us find the center and then found the center of the transfer paper. Aligned them on the heat press with the Express Name below the transfer. With just one press of 7-9 seconds, the entire design was applied with our Hotronix® heat press.

And just like that, our finished Santa Sack was completed. All that was left was to fill the bag with gifts and put it under the tree for Christmas morning.
