Personalized Spirit Blankets with Screen Printed Transfers

Fall sports season is upon us and with fall sports comes many fans needing spirit wear for game day. As the weather cools though, we switch from t-shirts and shorts, to hoodies and blankets. Family and friends in the stands will need blankets to curl up in when temperatures plummet and fans are left shivering in the cold. But not just any blanket will do, because their hoodies or t-shirts might be covered in outerwear, they will need a blanket that not only will keep them warm, but will also show off their spirit and love for the team and players. Spirit blankets are a great way to show your team spirit, even if the rest of your spirit wear are covered.
For heat printers, it’s important to look for apparel and accessories that is easy to heat print. Today, many blankets are made out of sweatshirt, cotton/polyester fleece fabric making it simple to decorate on your heat press using heat transfers. For the design on blankets, there are several directions you can take. We love spirit designs that allow a heat printer to add additional personalization such as a players number or relation to the player such as Football Mom, or Cheer Dad. In the example below, a popular Football design (QFB-122) from the Easy Prints® Idea Book was used to customized a Spirit Blanket for football fans. We added additional personalization to create a one-of-a-kind look using Express Names™.

The design was mocked-up in the Easy View® Online Designer. We customized the football layout with the school name and school colors. We checked out what it looked like with a 2″ number and a 2″ name using Express Names™ in the sizes and fonts that are available. Before ordering our transfers, we removed the number and name from Easy View to leave the blank space for adding the personalization at the heat press. Our Express Names™ and Numbers were ordered separately.

Once the Goof Proof® transfers and blank fleece blankets from Transfer Express Apparel arrived, it was time to decorate! Applying the main transfer image first to the instructions provided, we then proceeded to align the Express Names™ Name and Number to on the design. A cover sheet is needed to cover all exposed ink before heat printing the name and number. Then, we pressed the name and number, and peeled the transfer paper according to the instructions given with the order. And voila! A personalized Spirit Blanket fit for any fan!
