Numbering Basketball Uniforms
Basketball is a popular sport for all ages, from youth to adults, for both boys and girls, from organized leagues to recreational tournaments and fundraisers. In all, or most, of these cases, players will be wearing numbers on their uniforms. Did you know, though, that numbers the basketball players can wear is actually limited?
The way that referees notify the scoring table of players’ numbers are by hand signals. To keep these hand signals simple, player numbers are limited to digits 0-5, in various combinations of these digits.
These combinations include:
0-5, 10, 15, 20-25, 30-35, 40-45, and 50-55
When you are numbering uniforms for youth leagues, high schools, and recreational leagues, make sure to ask your customer if their league follows these numbering limitations or not.
