School Uniform Shirts and Custom Transfers
Many public and parochial schools have gone to a school uniform policy. This is a great chance to set up a custom apparel program with the local school. By using screen printed custom transfers, you can print shirts as needed throughout the year. Here we set up a custom transfer sheet with 3 different schools to reduce printing costs. With 9 prints per transfer sheet, even if you order just 20 sheets, you are paying .34 per print, making the school uniform business very profitable. All three shirts were decorated with Goof Proof® custom transfers.

In the Transfer Express® wholesale apparel line, we carry 3 different polo style uniform shirts that come in both youth and adult sizes. The lowest cost is the Port Authority Pique Knit, style Y420, shown in royal. This is a 100% cotton pique, with wood tone buttons. At 7 oz. this is the heaviest of the three options. On this shirt we used a cross next to text. One tip is to keep the art simple since an ideal print size is about 3.5” tall or wide depending on the design. Use bold text that will stand out and not close up at this small size.
The second wholesale shirt option is the best seller, the Port Authority Silk Touch Polo, style Y500, shown in Burgundy. It is also a pique but has a 65% polyester/35% cotton blend. It is softer and lighter weight than the first and is shown in burgundy. The blend helps reduce wrinkles and shrinkage. The buttons are dyed to match the shirt color. On this one, we used the best-selling vertical arch layout QAL-14 with the Full Block font.
A third option is the Port Authority Silk Touch Performance Polo (Y540) shown in navy. This shirt is 100% cationic polyester. It is slightly heat sensitive so on this shirt, Elasti Prints®, our heat sensitive transfer could be used. Because it is a performance polo it is moisture wicking and resists snags. It is priced in the middle of the other two making it a new option for many schools without increasing their price. On this shirt we used one of the shield clip art and added interlock letters. All of the transfers were created in Easy View®, our free online design tool.
