Mustache in on honor of Movember

November is the month of the mustache! Movember, coming from the words moustache and November, began in 2004 by the Movember Foundation and is an event to raise awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer and depression. It started in Australia and New Zealand but soon spread to all parts of the world, including the U.S., by 2007.

Participants of the event grow a mustache for the entire month to “change the face of men’s health”. It is meant to encourage men to get involved to increase cancer detection and diagnosis to reduce or prevent the number of deaths.

This mustache trend has really caught on over the past few years for many other events and organizations as well. It is increasing in popularity. People are not only growing the mustache, but are printing t-shirts and other apparel to promote their causes, too.
