Shipping DTF Transfers and Prep Work

Carefully and quickly shipping DTF transfers, is a top care when we handle your orders.  We are known for fast, guaranteed shipping for our DTF transfers, UltraColor Max.    Orders ship the same day and also arrive in one or two working days with our exclusive upgrade, Speedy Air, for those more than two days away from our production facility.

In this blog, let’s talk about how we are shipping DTF transfers, and what prep work you will need to do before applying the transfers.

Packaging-Box or Tube

We believe it is important to protect your order.   It will come in a sturdy box or tube to protect its contents.   Also included are application directions with every order.    And a silica pack that will keep the transfer humidity free.

We use two types of containers—a branded box or tube.   Which is used is dictated by both what contents were in your cart as well as the quantity of transfers in the cart’s order.

If you just order a few DTF transfers, your order will ship in a box.  Larger boxes are shipped in our double reinforced tube.

Sheets vs Rolls

Unless you only ordered a couple transfers, your UltraColor DTF transfers ship in a continuous roll.     The roll size is based on your order.   If for example you ordered 100 11×11 prints, you will get almost a 50 foot roll!     A packing list is wrapped around the roll   The packing list includes order details such as quantity and reorder numbers for those exact reorders.    Also included are application instructions.

Cut Off Color Calibration Strip

Let’s get ready to heat press!

Your DTF transfers will arrive with a color calibration bar on the edge.    This bar needs to be cut off prior to heat printing to your apparel.    The bar assures us the printer heads were aligned correctly, and the film carrier is feeding straight.

You will also see a small QR code near this line that should also be cut off.   This QR code was used to identify your order through our production process.

Now cut your transfers apart.   Most customers use good old fashioned scissors to cut the transfers apart.

Application

You are ready to apply!   Set your temperature at 290 degrees F.    We recommend a quick prepress to remove wrinkles and moisture, this is especially important with cotton applications…  No cover sheets or upper platen covers are needed with UltraColor Max, DTF transfer application, and using them can block the needed heat from reaching the transfer.

If there are any obstructions on the platen such as a pocket on a hoodie, buttons or zippers, we recommend raising the print area, so you have a flat, even pressing surface.   This can be done using a mouse pad, silicone pad or smaller, interchangeable platen.

Now position the transfer ink side down (you should see the image just as you want it to look through the clear carrier.)  Press 12-15 seconds and peel hot.  No second press is needed.

Some customers like to add texture to the print and if desired cover sheets such as craft paper, a flexible application pad, skateboard grip tape or canvas can be used.   This is not necessary, but simply a personal preference.
