Top Tips on Printing T-shirts for Women

Does your t-shirt business do orders for females?   Printing t-shirts for women needs extra consideration.

Consider the fabric, colors, design size and placement all a little differently.    Here are top tips for custom printing t-shirts for women.

Choose The Right Fabric

With the female audience, comfort is key.    Ring spun cotton shirts are soft, stylish and breathable.  This consideration gives your customer a good balance of softness, durability and stretch.

Use Colors that Women Love

Both the color of the shirt and the ink color are important consideration when printing t-shirts for women.    While and black are tried and true favorites but incorporating pastels, bright and bold hues or trendy earth tones can help you stand out from the competition.

Consider the Fit

The apparel fit is one of the most important differences to consider when printing t-shirts for women.   Here are three descriptions to consider when choosing your blank wholesale apparel.  Make sure you describe the fit on your ordering page.

  • Fitted: This fit hugs the body and has more shape
  • Relaxed:  Loose and more comfortable, idea for casual looks
  • Boxy:  A modern, oversized look.

Ordering the Transfers

You choice on transfers will be based on the number of colors in your design as well as how many of each design you need.   For 1-12 prints and/or full color printing, our DTF transfer, UltraColor Max will be your best choice. UltraColor Max is also great for apparel with Lycra or Spandex content.   As you get into larger 1-2 color orders of 12 or more, the screen printed transfer, Goof Proof will become a better choice for both feel and cost.

Design Size and Placement

If doing shirts for both men and women, the standard adult design size for a t-shirt print is 11×11 inches.  However, if focusing on t-shirts for women it is recommended you go a little smaller.   We recommend reducing the size to 9-10” in most cases.  You may go even smaller if your customer has chosen a fitted t-shirt.

When placing the design, especially if it is a thin rectangular design like motivating text, put the transfer a little higher than if doing shirts for both males and females.   This same consideration is true of a left chest print.

When printing t-shirts for women just keep the above tips in mind.   By using these as talking points, you will stand out from your competition with this rewarding niche.
