What Are Metallic Inks

These screen printed transfer colors use actual metal flakes.  This gives the transfer a shimmering metallic finish.   Here are some of the benefits to using them.

  1.    Eye-Catching Appeal. The most obvious reason to use metallic colors are for the shiny effects they provide
  2.    High-end Look. They elevate the overall look of the t-shirt or sweatshirt.
  3.     Versatility Metallic inks can be combined with standard Goof Proof screen printed transfer inks

What  Metallic Colors are Available

The Transfer Express metallic screen-printed ink color collection includes

Metallic Silver-a grey color with flecks of silver metal, applicable on light and dark colors.   Add a white Goof Proof outline for some pop!

Metallic Gold-a gold color with flecks of gold metal

Metallic Graphite -an almost black shade, applicable to light colors. Also, you can achieve  a tone-on-tone effect on black apparel or pair with a white outline.

How to Order Metallic Inks

Metallic colors are four of the color choices in Easy View, your online designer.   You can use the jump to button and select the metallic colors  or scroll through the colors to the bottom of the color choices.   Please remember due to the nature of the metallic inks having metallic flakes, the on screen colors are only approximate.   For actual colors we do offer both an ink color selector or a free metallic specific color sample pack. Choose metallic colors in both Goof Proof and Elasti Prints.

Applying Metallic Inks to Your Apparel

Transfer Express supplies application directions with every order.    Follow the time, temperature and pressure instructions with your order.     Please be sure not to use Teflon cover sheets or a Flexible Application Pad including those attached to your upper platen as these do block the heat from reaching the transfer.  In addition, obstructions like you will find on a hoodie with pockets and a hood, reduce the needed pressure.    Tools to help with pressure obstructions include smaller interchangeable platens, mouse pads, and silicone pads.

Final Thoughts

Printing with metallic transfer inks on t-shirts and other apparel is a fantastic way to take your designs to the next level.   The best part is there is no extra cost to your screen printed transfer orders.
