What is Color Mapping?

When you create your art in Easy View online designer, or upload vector art, you are able to select a color and change it and see that color change right on screen.    But if your art is not vector and you want us to change the colors you will be using on your custom transfer, you will want to use the image editor or color mapping tool.

Color Mapping is just a fancy term for letting us know what color you would like us to print, and where that color should be placed in your transfer design.   Easy View offers two ways to do this, the image editor and color mapping.   Which will work best depends on your art.

Using the Image Editor

The image editor allows you to remove the white background from your non-vector art.   This background is usually a big, white square box you see on the artboard when you upload your art.    You don’t want the white box to print, so we have given you the tool to remove it and change the colors in your art.

Here is how to use the image editor.

  1. Upload your art.
  2. Launch image editor
  3. Choose spot color for screen printed transfers.
  4. Select Remove White Background (in this case we are going to want the white in the text to print)
  5. Select Next
  6. Choose the ink colors you want to use where the editor saw color noted by the colors with ! in the box. (In this case we want black and white)
  7. You could also choose to change the color, and the color choice would be shown.

Using Color Mapping

A second option is to use the color mapping button.    With this option, your art appears on screen.  Select a color, and tell us what stock ink color you would like us to print at that location. Select the black and choose black ink.     Next, select the white on screen, and select the white ink to print.   The colors will not change on screen, but our design team changes the color placement , and your order is printed with both colors where you would like to see them.
