Offering More than Just T-shirts at Your Custom Apparel Business

Did you know that you can press to more than just t-shirts?  Once you have your heat press there are so many things that you can press to.  All that it takes is a little imagination and the right transfer type.  If your customer purchases a ‘Class of 2014’ t-shirt, they may be interested in a hoodie, jacket, or even a mouse pad too.  There are so many things that you can create!

When heat pressing to materials that you have never pressed to before, keep in mind that not all transfer types will press to all fabrics and materials.  For example, if you’re pressing onto a material that stretches you will need a transfer type that stretches with the fabric, such as Elasti Prints®.  (Click here to check out each transfer type!)  If you would like confirmation that a transfer type will press to the material that you would like to use, use this link to contact us!

If you are currently selling custom t-shirts and would like to expand your business to include other decorated apparel merchandise, a great way to let your customers know what you have to offer is to add a few freebies!  Adding a freebie to an order is a great, inexpensive, way to promote other products that you have to offer.  When you order the transfers for your customer’s next project, add a few extra transfers to the gang sheets that you’re already purchasing.  If you have an extra transfer when the order is complete, press it to a material that they may not know that you offer, such as a mouse pad or a koozie, free of charge.  This is a great opportunity for you to explain what other decorated materials you can offer them.  If they like the item that you provide them, there is a good chance that they will consider purchasing the decorated materials that you have to offer in the future.

How do we print on acrylic beanies? We tried with some prints we purchased here. Did not transfer well. Beanies came from s&sactivewear. Thanks

Hi,
Acrylic does not handle well in the heat and can lose some of its elasticity after pressed. You’ll want to use a transfer with a low temperature application. Another option would be to try to choose beanies in the future that are made from cotton or polyester instead.
