Printing Flannel Shirts and Pants

As the weather gets colder, flannel becomes a popular apparel choice.    Flannel is a versatile and cozy material often associated with comfortable clothing.    Popular custom flannel printing choices are flannel shirts, pajamas, blankets and pants.   Another popular flannel trend this year is the Shacket.  What is Shacket?   A shacket is a jacket in the style of a flannel shirt.   It is definitely shacket season.

Products That Work on Flannel

Flannel sold in the custom apparel industry is typically cotton   So any products that apply to cotton will apply to the flannel shirts and pants you see in the popular wholesale apparel supplier lines.     Transfer Express products that will work on flannel include the screen-printed transfers Goof Proof, Glow-in-the-dark, and Puff.     Full color products that will apply to flannel include UltraColor Max and UltraColor Pro.

Printing Flannel Pants

For our first flannel project, we used the District Flannel Plaid Pants.    These come in both unisex (DT1800) and ladies (DT2800) styles.    Four color choices are available including the shown New Red Plaid, as well as Black Plaid, Deep Royal Plaid and True Navy Plaid.  The women’s style also has a dark fuchsia plaid available.  These pants are comfortable lounge wear and also make great pajama bottoms paired with a t-shirt top!    We used a Puff Transfer to display a school name down the leg.    This was created in Easy View, your online designer using one of the easy to customize templates, QLG-75 quickly changing the school initials and mascot name to make it our own.    A tip when printing leg prints is to press along the seam.   When worn this gives a forward-looking side leg print and is much easier to apply

Printing Flannel Shirts

Our second flannel project is a Port Authority Plaid Flannel Shirt style W668.    This comes in 9 different color combinations including the Royal/Black plaid shown.   This shirt also comes in two ladies’ styles, LW669 and a longer tunic style, LW668.    We printed the front of this shirt with our full color DTF transfer, UltraColor Max.   This design was also created in Easy View design center, layout MAS-209.     On the back we used our best-selling screen-printed transfer, Goof Proof.   Since we were doing just a one-color print and needing at least 18, the screen-printed transfer is the optimal choice     This design was also created an Easy Prints template, MAS-207.    You will note both of these designs can be found in the mascot section, a great place to start for school designs.

All three products were applied using the provided directions.   Give printing flannel a try and increase sales.
