Decorating Backpacks for Back-to-School
School bookstores are a perfect place for custom decorated backpacks for students to show their school pride. With backpacks coming in many shapes and sizes, decorating them can be troubling. Determining what type of backpack to customize, what size to do the design and how to get it to lay flat on a heat press are all great questions!

What type of backpack do you choose? Well this is up to personal taste and the function you want it to serve. Do you want to budget friendly option, one the has a lot of pockets, one that can securely fit a tablet or laptop, among the many other options available? Transfer Express Apparel has many options of backpacks available.
Once you determine the function you need, you need to think of how you want to decorate it. The first question is, what type of fabric is the backpack made out of? This will help determine the transfer type you need. Is it nylon, polyester, or another material? Product descriptions on our website will specify the recommended fabric for that type of transfer. Once you have your transfers and backpacks, now it’s time to heat apply them. Your print area needs to be raised up above any seams, zippers or buttons. Print Perfect Pads and mousepads are able to be inserted under the print area to allow the transfer to receive even pressure for application. Another fantastic accessory that can be added to your heat press is interchangeable platens (shown below). These lower platens on Hotronix® heat presses can be swapped out for smaller platens. Perfect for small apparel decorations such as bags.
